Lua/Mater/Lua Saturni shows up in roman myths, yet she ha been traced back to Italy. No Matter the names she is known by, she was thought to be the consort of Saturi. She is the one connected to the Lues (flues, plagues, destruction) on the one hand yet, to the romans, she was the one who burned and disposed of enemy’s capture weapons an plundered goods. Today, little is known of her. She has become mysterious goddess who was honored by soldiers and revered by the Romans because she was both a warmonger and a spiritual guide for solders. The roman soldiers turned to hr when in need of freeness for the bloodshed and cruelties of war that were carried out in her honor.
The ancient people did everything they could to appease her so that her destructive self did not appear. The Romans did appeasement rituals and would try to atone for their deeds in battle. This ritual was to burn any of the spoils of their battle(s). I immediately realize that this was a way to deal with PTSD, and if I were working with a soldier with PSTD, I would include a symbolic ritual like this to help them.
She is always there when there is destruction, war sand atonement. Her name means “to pay”. She reminds us of Karma. She reminds us to “atone”. She also reminds us of the freedom/liberation and that we have redeeming qualities that will shine through when we are humbly asking, through prayer or ritual/ceremony, to be forgiven for things. “lues”, today, can mean to be unbound. We are responsible for unbinding ourselves from negativity that we cause.
She is truly a goddess of many contradictions. Her medicine for destruction and her medicine for liberation are strong, especially right now while the moon is in Saturn. She can be trouble for the next couple of days until New Moon.
Gifts given to her were candles and silver. You should have both on your altar if you have one. Wear lots of green for the next two days. Wear jewelry. Have a feast.
Since the Moon is only showing 5% of her face know that Saturn’s energy is waning as well. Yet, there are gifts for us in its waning. Watch for the rewards of your diligent work and the effort you put in to being a more spiritual person
The phrase, “Are we there, yet?’’ rings through my head. I am trying hard to get thing done so I can rest more, play mor with my creativity, and relax knowing I have gotten things done I thought I never would. I will have more time to make sure I atone if I have a negative thought, a negative reply, a negative outlook.
Are you sensing Lua?
