Beyond Thought, The Soul Quivers

Soulful Woman

If you have not lived in mountains’ shadows,
nor cupped the piney breath of forest,
then you would not notice how lonely she looks

how she rubs herself raw
with sun, and sky and wind
to feel anything at all, other than barren

oh, barren tree on barren plain,
how within reach are those who stand away
without noticing how sunset weeps sweet dew
as it smothers you with kisses

kissed by sun, you beam, thinly,
at such a tender short embrace
and cost of time it takes
for you to reach all the way to lap of heaven

heaven knows, there are those of us,
apron wiping brow,
who stare out over prairie for someone to come

coming not to save us nor to sort us,
but to seed us and graft our broken places
like return of long lost friend, or lover,

sister, I hear your sigh, though there are those
who think you sing, at not having to share your piece of sky
without hem-hangers, or brawling males
coming to carve their initials on you

come, come sweet unwritten poem,
here is line and love to brace you
through your monumental precarious perch

Today, I will remember to show happiness and acceptance.  It is what it is.  One foot in front of the other.  There is a fine line between thought and soul and if I feel authentic feelings, awknowledge them, then I can simply be in the Present with no past, no future, just the NOW.
