Positive Perception

Is Bohemian a Hippy Dippy thing that grew up and is still hippy?  I think it is.  I think that the 60s has returned to being laid back, being forever unconventional and being artistically expressive in style.  It is still a little bit gypsy, the adventurer.  And Bohemians tend to have a less ‘off the edge’ mentality and seem to, instead, have grown up and matured to where there is a more world view in interest, dress, relationships, concerns, etc.

Somewhere along the line, we did grow up and realize that, as we stir the ether, the Universe is changed.  There is less of the memememem mentality and more of a universal responsibility has happened.  We tend to be less ‘out of this world’ and have gained a more positive interactive relationship with the world and all on it.

We have grown up to understand that our view of ourselves matters and that life’s harshness means that we do not ‘zone out’ but become more gentle and more patient with self and others…. With life, itself.  We know more about perceiving our own reality with a more conscious and empowered way of looking at things.

We tend to be willing to see both sides of life and actually make the changes we need personally, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually.  We have learned to make space for ourselves and for others and to hold space for others, as well.

I think that the ‘checking out’ when things get tough, we have learned to be more “present” and truly attempt to ground ourselves in reality rather than get lost in drugs to deal with the world and our place in it.  We respond, other than the occasional spurge of rebellion, and we are less impulsive in our reactions and actions.  Yes, I think we have grown up in many ways.

I think another way we have matured, is that we have learned, better, to go to others for support, not to go to a professional, necessarily, but to go to our wise elders.  And, it is not an enabling, it is an empowering that we seek.  Somehow, we are more conscious of our flaws and are at work trying to change the perceptions we have of our flaws rather than just let it be.

We tend to be aware of our own maturation and know to look for patterns in our lives that bring us back to beginning again, for we have experienced so many endings and losses and are relieving ourselves of the behaviors that bring us back around in cycle after cycle.

What do you think about the Hippy/Bohemian connection?  What do you see as the commonalities and differences?
