Looking For A Bohemian Woman

“The word bohemian first appeared in the English language in the 19th century to describe the non-traditional lifestyles of marginalized and impoverished artists, writers, journalists, musicians, and actors in major European cities.” – Wikipedia

There are women who seem “edgy” in a stylish kind of way.  They look like a new version of the hippy dippy styles of the 60s; prefer barefoot, wear mismatched earrings with peace symbols or spirals, and they repel the idea of ‘fitting in’ for sitting in’s sake.

These kinds of women hang with artistic friends and self-expression comes first and foremost in all the arenas of their lives.  They are unconventional, almost irreverent, speak their truths for all the world and God to hear, and are typically disobedient and contrary.  They resent pretty much anything organized and authoritarian.

They are not averse to seeking out second hand stores for fashion that others have discarded as ‘out of style’ and the more out of style something is, the better for these women.  There is something almost ‘gypsy’ in the way these choose to live, dress, and there is a sense of ‘live and let live’, and a ‘joie de vie’.

They will wear two different socks, ‘normally’ mismatched patterns, clashing colors, and it all gives a sense of liberation from society’s norms.

They are women who aspire to writing, to painting, to music, nonrhythmic poetry, splashes of colors, and with clashing of drums.  They sculpt, the spin, they suddenly break into dance, they put graffiti on their skins, they are bold cultured and imaginative.

Many of the 60s women are drawn to the bohemian everything.  I am one.
