I always said I would never make cards, but, something happened. I got a Big Shot and some dies. Then Grace saw what they could do and she got one. Then, another best friend got one. Now we are a group of three who follow Grace around finding 'stuff' and experimenting and leaning on Grace for designs. I did a photo few minutes of her making cards and then off I went.
Grace drew up a scale model for us to follow for both the square box pop-out and the cascading card. She is awesome at math skills concepts for design.
You cut an 11" piece of cardstock in half. Then measure up 3 inches and make a small mark and then on the other side measure up 1 3/4". Draw a line to the two points and cut two pieces of the same.
Then, score the straight edge of each piece at 1 3/4", 3 1/2 inch plus one mark on ruler apst the 3 1/2 line, then at 5 1/2", then 7 1/4" plus one mark of ruler past that, then at 9 1/4 inch.
Draw a faint line at the middle of the 3" and the middle of the 1 3/4. Lightly trace a line through the middle meeting at those small marks you made.
Next you are going to cut the slots. On the top piece cut down to your middle line on score #1,cut up to middle line on #3, and and down on #5. On the bottom do the opposite: cut up on #1, down on #3, up on #5 scored lines.
Now groove them together.
Push the two together so they fit tightly and evenly.
Now is the tricky part the first time you do it. See how she is opening up the space between the cut lines that are together now?
Lay the card (I do it with the back laid down flat) then pull out on the two sides apart until they fit in the middle of the cascade.
continue to do the same between the slash marks.
It will naturally fold because you scored the lines for it to fold on.
Crease the folds well. Lay it down and push it together.
Now pull it out and make sure it lies straight on the bottom edge of the cascade.
It is ready to decorate. fill it up with flowers. Sometimes we put flowers on a tiny strip of paper and glue it on the back of front of each section. Fill it with butterflies or whatever you have that you can make a scene with.
When decorated, put into a folded card you make out of whatever size you choose.
These are some I have done.
Let your imagination run wild. Design your own, as I did with the purse.
Happy card making.
If you have any questions, ask in the Face Book group, and attention to Grace or I. Thank you Grace for sharing your ideas with us.
