Winter's Rhythm

Nature dances to its natural rhythm, dressed up in its seasonal finery.  Each season moves us in the dance through seasons as well.  We celebrate whatever dance there is for each season.  But, after the dance…

We are ‘Cinderelly’ without her ballgown and one shoe.  The loud celebrations of light become a quiet solitude of sombre lights and the trees turn back to their rest, as do we.  We have had our gaiety and that has made us feel like we can make it through to the next.  The season all have their place in our story.  We learn to love the peace and quiet as much as we loved the fun and frivolity.

I showed how I did this painting, in a group post,  by scraping through pools of color and scraping it onto the substrate by making quick side to side strokes for each tree.

I pooled a light blue, a chocolate brown, white on my palette.

I used a scraper to muddle the colors just a bit and then loaded the scraper with acrylic paint.

Then, quickly, make a left to right swipe the size you want a tree trunk.

Try to let the tree trunk make itself… if you wanted perfect, you take a photo.  It is the imperfection of the sides of the trees that make it beautiful.

You can make some of the trees leaning… be sure and add an uneven number of tree trunks.
