Reawakening of the Goddesses

There is a reawakening of the motif of the Goddesses happening in the consciousness of many women.  Men may fear it, deny it, call it “hysteria” as they have called women’s intuition for a long time, and religions deny it.  So much is being reconsidered. There is new language happening that surrounds the goddesses.  There is new ideologies about feminine spirituality.  There is different energies at work.  Women are experiencing a more wholeness of the Divine Feminine.  We do not elude the masculine.  It is, as I see it, a balance.  We have long longed for a sense of a Divine Mother.  This longing has led to some deep and urgent problems that nothing else seems to have filled.  We have begun to question that which was seen and felt as heresy in Christian societies.  We are innately and social drive for search for something that has been missing in our lives and we have begun to sense an affinity to one or more of the goddesses as we learn more about them because women are writing more about such.

Generation after generation, once Patriarchy tried to erase the goddesses, women began quietly keeping some of the goddess knowledge.  Some began being called “witch” and “hags” and were women scorned.  Some slaughtered.  But, women still worked the goddess knowledge, grew herbs, used the personae of the goddesses and called on them for healings, for empowerment, and kinds of tribal secret societies much like the women of the “Red Tent” (a must read) by Anita Diament.    For a time, there were few who remembered and the knowledge that was available began to be used in ways not according to the personae of the goddesses.  Women were hungry for women gatherings, spiritual gatherings, something of their very own in a world ruled by men.  Today, you will see the personae and names of the goddesses show up in children’s stories, in video games, in books.  Women stood up for their knowledge and began sharing more openly.  Today, there is a resurgence of the way of the goddesses.

You have seen my blogs and paintings, betimes, where I speak to the things I know, that I researched and made part of my spiritual life.  This month, I will be sharing what I know and how I use the information of the goddesses, yes, for healing, for empowerment, and I will try to help you know more and be inspired to do some research for yourself.
