Our Demeter Self

Demeter’s story is such a sad one for mothers, and yet empowering.  Do research the story of Demeter and her daughter Persephone.  Demeter is the Greek goddess in charge of agriculture.  She is patron of the harvest.  We should all celebrate her mother-love and our own.  A mother’s love is compassionate, nurturing and a life-giving force.

September is the month of selflessness, non-judgemental, warm and understanding. A mother’s love is all-giving.  During this month, people will gravitate to your mothering stance.    A mother knows great strength responsible, as well.

Now is the time to gather your family, have great feasts, and make wonderful meals of your harvest.  Wear earthy colors, wear floral or woodsy scents. It is a time to give and to relearn how to receive.   It is a time to create, to work on projects you have saved for Fall and winter creations.  Gather to work to glean the harvest and to bake and create.  This is a great time to empower other women and girls;  to give them of your strength and hope and great compassion.

Make lots of breads and baked goods, collect the last of your mint and glean the seeds, of your harvest, and garden, for next spring.  Embrace the Demeter within.
