Compassionate Living

You know that feeling you get when someone is suffering?  You know how your heart races to try to help?  That is compassion and that reaction is as old as humanity.

Once, the drive to protect every person in one’s tribe meant survival of that tribe.  Once we dependent on all in the tribe for survival.   We no longer need each other in such a way but every person in the global tribe needs sympathy, needs us to see beneath a rough exterior, betimes, to see the why of who we are and how we react to different stimuli and not be judged for it, but to be understood.

Once we learn to be aware of the stimuli for us to care, we need to realize that all the compassion we send out into the ether, the more will come back to us.  We are hurting human beings. We need to stop looking for perfection in others, thinking we have some perfection in ourselves.  We need to learn how to celebrate our differences, to stop coitizing others for not being exactly who we think they should be.

Having and showing compassion is a gift that returns full-fold.  The more compassion we have for others, the more pleasure we have and the less self-critical we are.

May you find reason to be compassionate towards others.  May you have more compassion for self.
